All Time
Low DigiPak Analysis.
The digipak that I have chosen to analyse is from the extended addition of the album ‘Don’t Panic’ by All Time Low; named – ‘Don’t Panic: It’s longer now!’ I have chosen this band as they match the genre I have chosen to study for my own music video: general rock. This digipak is quite intricate and unique compared to the original album, and is of a limited edition. The one I am analysing is number 13416 out of 15000.
The inside lay out of the digipak has the
same cartoon pictures as the original albums, but were the band members had
been cartoons also, they are now actual photos of them. An example photograph
is shown below. The whole theme of these pictures is the end of the world, and
the grungy style of them helps to portray the style of the band and entice
those who like it into buying it. This allows people not to be limited by their
age or gender, but more their likes and dislikes when the album appeals to
them. The different style in how they are portrayed from the usual also helps
to show the different style in their music from other artists and other albums
of their own. The colour scheme consists of dark colours to match the dark
situations portrayed, yet they are given a comedic twist by the way the band is
posed in the centre of the chaos as though they do not care.
The entire package consists of three
sections were a different picture is displayed on each. When opened the
information and lyric booklet is contained within the left side flap, and the
CD is contained within the right side flap. The centre piece does nothing
except display information on the back. The information and lyric booklet
consists of all of their songs with lyrics, a page filled with everyone All
Time Low would like to thank, and the credits that list the producer down to
addition violin string for a certain song. The background to this unfolding
booklet is yet another artwork of a cartoon style featuring photograph of the
actual band members in the place of their cartoon selves.

The outside layout shows the main picture that has
also been used for posters and advertisement, and additional picture of the
four band members amongst one of the apocalyptic scenes from the cartoons. The
main centre piece has all the tracks listed, the logo of the record label ‘Hopeless
Records’ the barcode, and the main information that is also included in the
credits: Produced by, copyright and web addresses etc. The spines of the album are black, to fit in
with the colour scheme again, but to also help the white writing stand out
because of how small it is. This helps people see the bands logo, the title of
the song, and the record labels logo.
